Monaco

I participated as the editor in a team of 4 in the 24 Hour Film Race 2022, where we had to create a short film from concept to writing, filming to editing, all in just 24 hours. The editing process took 14 straight hours. It was fast and intense, and editing decisions had to be made quickly. The film made it to the top 10 finalists and was screened at the Cobb International Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, where it won 3rd place and Best Cinematography in our category.

Puppets

A documentary about a puppeteer in Portland, Oregon. Dan Luce, displays some of his magical creations, and discusses what it’s like being a puppet master, his creative process, and how he crafts for himself an inspiring and enchanting environment to work in, amongst a busy world focused too much on making money.

Caesarea

Having reached almost a quarter million views, this is by far the most successful video on my Youtube channel, Street Gems. In this short documentary, I discuss the history of the archaeological site of Caesarea, Israel. I narrate the details of the place itself, but also provide the historical context that shaped its story, and how it in turn contributed to the wider historical context.

The Lycians

This documentary provides a broad look at the ancient Lycian civilization that existed in Turkey over 2000 years ago. It encompasses their origins, language, architecture, political history, and their relationship with neighboring cultures, including the Greeks, Persians, and Romans, as well as their eventual Christianization. As in Caesarea, I discuss the broader historical context that shaped their story.

About Jordan

Jordan Amit is a video editor and emerging Youtuber. His channel ‘Street Gems’ features short documentaries about historical places around the world, with a particular focus on ancient archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.

With a knack for storytelling and a sharp eye for detail, he deeply enjoys immersing himself in the creative process, yet is able to step back and critique his own edits by putting himself in the shoes of the viewer, which helps him craft a more flowing story.

Having studied ancient history and archaeology in university, he recently rekindled his love for the ancient world by starting his Youtube channel.

He is interested in doing editing work in genres similar to his channel, like history documentaries, travel shows, and world culture in general.
